Wow, this is pretty good, Lupa! :D I really like the character design, and you did a decent job with the anatomy. :]

If I may offer a tip on the shading: It appears, from the way you added the shadows, that the light is coming down from above. In that case, something to keep in mind is how the tip of each scale casts a small, faint shadow on the scale below it (look at number V of this picture to see what I am talking about). Shading in such a way gives a touch of realism, and makes the drawing appear more three-dimensional. Remember, though, that you don't have to shade each and every single scale - look at where the light is coming from, and where it is shining; the scales closest to the light (that are the brightest) will usually have such shadows. :) Also, don't be afraid to add more highlights and shadows - press lighter on the paper when colouring parts that are lit, and press harder on the paper where there are shadows. (Holding your pencil at a steeper angle also increases pressure, which will give a slightly darker colour).

Still, I think this is a great piece, and it is definitely a favourite of mine! :D Keep up the awesome work!

Thanks, this was just a short sketch for the heck of it so I'll probably try that on my next and use it as a sample for requests. My request pieces will usually get more attention than pieces that I do for the heck of it ^w^
